Jubilee Vineyard Estate is a small family
owned business, nestled in the pictureque Hawkesbury
Valley, just over an hours drive from the centre of
Sydney. Named after an original vineyard planted by
the famous surgeon Dr Thomas Fiaschi, in the 1870s[sic],
the vineyard was re-established and planted with Chambourcin
(shom-bur-son) grapes.
As we were handpicking these luscious over ripened Chambourcin
grapes in early autumn, we were surrounded by thousands
of swarming bees, whom were busily sharing in the sticky
sweetness of the warm grape juices, as the bunches were
removed. Luckily not one picker was stung, even as they
crawled drunkenly out of the buckets. |
Tasting Notes: |
This limited release estate port is a
deep ruby red colour, with hints of blackberries and
mulberries, matured on new american oak.
A sweet, fruity fortified wine with a bit of "Sting".
Although young, it can be enjoyed now, however, it will
benefit by further cellaring of 4-5 years. |
